What is a phytogenic poultry supplement?
It is a feed or drinking-water preparation containing plant-derived ingredients selected for a defined nutritional or physiological support role. Performance depends on formulation, standardisation, dose, delivery and the conditions in the flock.
Are phytogenics a replacement for veterinary treatment?
No. They may support functions such as digestion, stress response or immunity, but they do not diagnose disease or replace vaccination, biosecurity, corrective management or veterinarian-directed treatment.
Should I choose a feed or drinking-water product?
Feed can provide consistent longer-term exposure; water can introduce support quickly for a defined period. Choose from the objective, bird intake, farm equipment and product guidance, and confirm compatibility with other line treatments.
Can I use more than the listed dose for a faster result?
Do not increase a dose without qualified advice. Plant actives and nutrients are dose-dependent, and a higher concentration may reduce palatability, create incompatibility or add cost without improving the outcome.
How should I measure whether a programme is helping?
Set a baseline and use outcomes relevant to the objective: corrected FCR, daily gain, uniformity, egg output, mortality, litter score, water-to-feed ratio or veterinary lesion scores. Record concurrent feed, weather and health changes.
Can phytogenic supplements be mixed with vaccines or medicines?
Compatibility cannot be assumed. Water sanitiser, acids, minerals and medications may affect some products. Follow each label and confirm the complete combination with the veterinarian or nutritionist before mixing.
How do I calculate the amount needed for my flock?

Why does botanical standardisation matter?
Plant species, part, source and processing can change chemical composition. Standardisation sets measurable specifications so the relevant active fraction and finished-product quality remain more consistent between batches.
